I’m not old enough to feel like this is a mid life crisis… so we will go with quarter because after that, fractions get fuzzy… maybe a third? anyway…

I think the days of having super long hair are coming to a close… it is unhealthy, unruly, unmanageable, and unattractive most of the time.

Since I plan on cutting a good bit of it off anyway… idk maybe 3 or 4 inches? … I’m thinking of doing something fun and colorful with the ends.

I’m pretty sure work doesn’t care because a) it is a library and yeah.. it’s a library and b) a little hair color is mild compared to the other branches tattoos, facial piercings, and general badassery.

I love pink. I’m thinking pink ends. Thoughts?

Whirlwind weekend

My bff and my hubs threw me a surprise party! Totally unexpected BUT totally appreciated. This is my last birthday before I become a mommy. Weird.

Went shopping with my mom and got maternity jean capris and some tops that cover my stomach. Went to ikea and got a dresser for bean’s room. Then came home to a house of family and friends. It was really cool that my childhood friend came as well! He was the closest thing I had to a brother growing up and then he moved in middle school (or maybe the last year of elementary school) but we still kept in touch a little. Very cool. Then today two of our friend couples took us out to dinner for my birthday! Again, totally unexpected and appreciated! They were a part of our first small group at the church and we all just clicked very well…. the guys especially have some kind of intense bromance going on haha

THEN WE GOT ICE CREAM my favorite part.

Great weekend… back to ‘reality’ tomorrow even though I don’t work until 5.

Great birthday so far even though it’s not until Tuesday!

SO I went to Greenberries this afternoon which is a “upscale, eco-chic children’s and maternity consignment boutique” (their words not mine) and I was talking to the lady who said, like everyone else does, “travel systems are bulky, you should buy the car seat and stroller individually” which I…

I have a second part and the comment isn’t long enough.

I did not get a travel system, but the stroller I got could accommodate the infant seat with a bracket. I just took the seat of the stroller off, put the bracket on and then the car seat fit on it. Then, when Ben could sit up better, I stopped using the car seat with the stroller and used the regular seat.

I have a britax marathon 70, it rear faces up to 45-50 lbs and then forward faces to 70. Ben will most likely be rear facing in this seat until he’s two, unless he out grows the height, which I doubt. He went into this seat at 7 months.

I had a britax infant car seat too. The b safe. I think that’s what’s on your registry.

Yeah Britax seems to be where it’s at. I’m looking at thee reviews and everything is great. The britax travel system has the infant seat, the care seat base, and the stroller. The the infant seat snaps into the stroller. I think maybe instead of asking for another care seat base, I will put the convertible car seat instead. That way, we will have the infant seat to go in the one car that also snaps into the stroller, and then the other car seat that he can use when he’s older…

Guuuuuyyyyyys it is starting to feel real and close and weird… even though it isn’t really that close.

What. A. Day. This has been the MOST ridiculous day .It started out alright when I went over to my parent’s house to meet my sister and her bf to check out some local yard sales. I figure, if I can find some gently used stuff, it will free up our registry and help us to get the things that we really need. But then…

I started prepping dinner at 2. I have had a craving for ribs so I thought it would be a nice treat for Bub and I to have our own little memorial day together while he is recovering from surgery. I bought greens and pork neck for flavoring, and $20 worth of baby back ribs. WELL The universe did not want me to enjoy my dinner tonight.

First, I cut the ribs out of the pack. They smelled weird but honestly everything smells gross/weird to me these days so I didn’t think anything of it. I prepped them by painstakingly taking off the membrane on the backs to make them more tender, cut them into pieces, and then used my homemade brown sugar rub all over them. I put them in the oven to bake at 250 for what ended up being three and a half hours. Lots of work, right? Yeah. So there’s that.. nothing bad about a little work BUT it didn’t pay off…. more on that later..

Second, after the ribs are in the oven, Bub filled a pot with water, put in the pork necks, and turned it on high to boil. And then we forgot about them. An hour or so later we were laying in the bedroom and he smelled something burning. So I get up and go out into the hallway… and our whole house is filled with thick smoke. All the water has boiled out and the pork is burning at the bottom of the pan. I go turn the stove off and start opening windows but the smoke triggers my asthma and I start coughing and wheezing. Danny finally gets up out of bed because, you know, he’s recovering from back surgery and moves very slowly….and kicks me out of the house with the dog so he can open the rest of the windows. So hours later the house still smells like smoke. Later, I asked him what level he put the pot on that it would burn up so bad.. and he says, “I just set it to ‘bool’” aka boil. So… that’s a roger on the high setting with not a lot of water. Meh.

After that debacle, things settle down and Danny goes to take a nap. So I figure I will have another go at making greens because I am BOUND AND FREAKING DETERMINED to eat some ribs and greens for dinner. So I go to the grocery store to buy more pork neck, and we also need some better gauze for hub’s incision sight. While bending down to look at the gauze, I end up sneezing and peed myself. So that was awesome.

Back to why prepping the ribs was a waste of time…

After my incontinence issue, I come home, change my pants, and am determined to finish dinner. I set another pot to boil the pork neck and then wash and chop the greens. I take the ribs out of the oven and put them on the grill with the BBQ sauce. They are looking amazeballs. I’m thinking, heck yeah, I saved dinner by going to the store even though I peed myself! I wake Danny up to eat.

First… he doesn’t like the way I made the green a.k.a I only flavored them with pork neck and a little bit of salt as to make them more mildly flavored and more healthy for me… since I’m swelling like a mofo. He likes to put a lot of other stuff in them like onion and other seasoning so he didn’t want to eat them. So that’s a bust.

THEN I try a piece of the ribs… and they taste weird. Again I’m thinking it’s my pregnancy smell and taste, and I give Bub some to try, telling him that I think that they taste weird. He bit into it and said they did in fact taste weird. So now I’m freaking out because I have had 2 or so bites of ribs that might have been bad. I really hope nothing happens to me or more importantly, to bean I don’t know what to do about it now… Bub ended up eating leftovers and I ate greens for dinner….

SO $20 worth of baby back ribs somehow was bad BEFORE the sell by date. I called the grocery store and since I have the packaging still they told me to bring them in. sooo not a total loss. I decide to go out and take care of the rib return tonight. I drive to the store to return the now RIDICULOUSLY delicious looking and time consuming, but foul tasting ribs. After that, I decide I’m going to go to Lowes to pick up a gallon of paint for the nursery. We decide on Valspar “Stargazer” blue. I HATE making decisions, stresses me OUT. BUT I’m glad it is DONE.

So I go to Lowes and pick up the paint… and on the way home I think… “hey, I had a kind of crappy day, I want get a treat for me and bub.” So I stop by Wendy’s to get a Frosty to share between the two of us. I also get the little free kids size one with my key ring. The guy at the drive through was super friendly and I’m thinking, “hey, this might be a nice ending to the day.” Yeah. No.

When I get home I now have my purse, a Lowes bag, a gallon of paint, and two frosties. The front door is locked. I’m struggling but bub can’t really help easily so… instead of putting stuff down to open the door, I just wrestle with my keys until I get the door opened. I grab the door knob… and the gallon of paint slips somehow.

The front door opens. I scream and curse. The paint can busts open all over the front porch and my shoe. The dog comes bounding towards me. I scream for bub to call the dog back. This was like… in a 5 second span of time.

SO luckily the dog didn’t walk through the paint and we actually only lost a little paint to the porch and the shoe. But I had to spend the next 45 minutes soaking my shoe, spraying the porch down with the hose, and scrubbing the brick and grout with an old toothbrush.

Oh. And the the dog has a blue paint stripe down her side… not sure how that got there but I guess I will see the extent of the remainder of the damage in the morning…

I’m now off to tend to my shoe which is soaking in the sink. And the I have to clean the kitchen.

I might just say f the kitchen and go to bed.

Yeah. That is happening.

Hubs is having another back surgery today. His momma is with him at the hospital because I have to work and I don’t have very much leave accrued.
